Seacole Class

Seacole Class have settled back into school life well after Christmas and we are enjoying our learning. In Science, we are learning about Light – the children have enjoyed experimenting with torches and mirrors and have learnt some technical vocabulary (opaque, transmitted, absorbed, concave and convex – to name a few) which they can use correctly and confidently. We have followed our History topic of Ancient Egypt with Art of Ancient Egypt this term and our prior knowledge is shining through – we have sketched the pyramids, made the collar from the bust of Nefertiti and made our own papyrus using brown paper and glue! Our Geography learning centres around rivers this term, it has been fun to learn the vocabulary to describe the journey a river takes from its source to the mouth and we are looking forward to learning facts about rivers around the globe. Later in the term we will be exploring how to create a healthy, varied diet in DT so keep your eyes peeled on Twitter for pics of this!

Please support your child with Tackling Tables both online and with the cards when we send them home soon.

We ask that you read with your children as often as possible - the children receive a ticket for the monster, at the end of each half term a name will be drawn and the child will win a book! Please share in your child's learning each week by supporting them with their homework, this is due in each Monday.

We have PE on Wednesday with Mrs Baker and Miss Thorne, don't forget to bring your kit in on a Monday and keep it in school every day (or return it if you have a sports club/PE). We have swimming on a Friday morning, don't forget your kit!
